I last posted in mid-July, I blinked, and suddenly we’re a week into September. Honestly life has just been a whole messy mix of amazing opportunities, good people, and shitty things. I’m busy, stressed, tired, but eager to see where my new opportunities can take me.
The Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade was, of course, horrendous and not only has it angered me, but it’s also made me terrified at the implications as the original ruling was based off the right to privacy. And Governor Henry “Foghorn Leghorn” McMaster signed a bill allowing doctors to discriminate in their health practices in South Carolina.
Needless to say, I’m very privileged to be able to move to Illinois and that my family is coming with me. Here, I’m also safe from the baseless and senseless anti-LGBTQ laws going into effect around the country.
There are so many things I can say about those issues, but I’ll leave it there for now and focus on the good that’s happening in my life.
First, I fulfilled my 14-year-long dream of seeing Lady Gaga in concert and it was everything I’d hoped it would be. Best night of my life by far.
I also finally got an actual job! I still can’t believe I get paid over $15 an hour to sit behind a desk, lol.
On top of that, I’ve applied for other roles and I’m making it to the interview stage! Literally had zero interviews last year, lol. It’s nice to know that my skills are wanted and valuable.
I’m also taking classes in topics I’m genuinely interested in, I’m in an executive position of my university’s newspaper (my baby), and I’m living with two of my closest friends. I’m doing the things that I want to do with the people I want to do them with, and I’m so lucky to be able to do that.
This post is kind of a mess, I know, but I had to get something out and let everyone know I’m still kickin’! I’ll be doing another, proper, post later this month and get some real content out there.
Thanks for reading and see you next time!
